Starting Points
Executive MBA Programs set their own admission processes and requirements, but most evaluate applicants on the following criteria:
- Professional experience and scope of responsibilities
- Academic records
- Professional recommendations
- Demonstrated ability to accomplish graduate-level business course work
- Career goals
Most EMBA Programs host information sessions for prospective students to learn more about their programs. They also require completion of an application form, and, in most cases, an interview.

- Undergraduate degree required: Almost 99 percent of the programs, with some allowing exceptions depending on the application
- Interview required: 93 percent of the programs, with some allowing exceptions depending on the circumstances
- Minimum work experience required: Average of 6.5 years, but the average of actual students is 13.3 years
- Minimum management experience required: Average of 3.6 years but the average of actual students is 8.4 years
